Cash Summary

Cash Summary shows the current cash in each payment bin at a point in time during the working day, starting from the last balancing closing amount.

Cash Summary shows the current cash in each POS payment bin at a point in time during the working day. It starts from the last balancing closing amount — the New Float Amount set when the previous shift was finalized — and then applies all cash-in and cash-out movements from that point forward.

Important: Cash Summary is an intraday view. It is not designed to retrieve historical balances for a prior date. For historical closing amounts, use POS Balancing Line from the POS Entry List in Business Central.

How Cash Summary is calculated

The balance shown in Cash Summary is calculated as follows:

Opening float (New Float Amount from last balancing) + cash in − cash out = current bin balance

The opening float is the New Float Amount recorded when the previous work shift was finalized on the POS Counting screen. Each cash movement during the current shift — sales, refunds, bin transfers — is applied on top of this figure.

Cash Summary does not store historical snapshots. Once a new shift begins and a new float is set, the previous intraday state is no longer accessible through Cash Summary.

Finding historical closing amounts

If you need the closing balance for a specific date, POS unit, or POS payment bin, open the POS Entry List in Business Central and navigate to POS Balancing Line. This table records the closing state of each balancing session and is the authoritative source for historical cash data.

If POS Balancing Line does not meet your reporting requirements, a dedicated report may need to be created.
